I leave for Fort Madison tomorrow morning at 6AM.  A little over 500 miles.  The tour group will be loading bicycles from 4PM to 6PM tomorrow and then start again at 6AM on Saturday.  The truck hauling my bike and the bus toting my fat ass and all my gear will leave at 8AM Saturday.

Which means today is spent going over — for the 50th time — everything I need to bring with me.  Clothes. Tools.  Sleeping stuff.  Money.  Chargers for all the electrical stuff that I am still undecided about bringing.

Car’s being looked over to make sure it’s ready for a 1000 mile round trip.  Waited until today to mow the lawn.  Laundry’s being laundered, dishes have been dished.
Getting a kick out of Bike Snob.  Two quotes from the book made me laugh:
“Get a bicycle.  You will not regret it.  If you live.”
— Mark Twain
and
“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.  Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.”
—  Desmond Tutu
